Sony MAX, India’s premier Hindi movie channel, is set to thrill audiences with the high-octane action thriller, The Diplomat, on 29 June at 1 PM only on Sony MAX. The film, which is one of the most thrilling extraction missions, is based on a true story, starring John Abraham as J.P. Singh, an Indian diplomat in Pakistan. J.P. Singh is involved in the case of Uzma Ahmed, an Indian woman who claims she was forced into marriage and seeks refuge at the Indian embassy.

The film starts off in the stunning yet hauntingly conflicted valleys of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Among the countless women who are kidnapped and tortured is India’s Uzma, who is lured into a false marriage, only to find herself imprisoned, assaulted, and desperate to escape. the film follows Singh’s efforts to navigate complex international diplomacy and secure Uzma’s safe return to India, facing ethical dilemmas and suspicion from Pakistani authorities. The movie is directed by Shivam Nair.

Ahead of the film’s premiere on Sony MAX, actor John Abraham shares his experience of portraying the character of J.P. Singh. “Playing the role of a diplomat was an amazing experience. I connected with the real life of a diplomat because I enjoy this space. I have done this in Madras Cafe, Batla House & Parmanu. The Diplomat really put me back in that space, and I was enjoying every moment of it.”

He further added, I am politically aware, so I understand what is happening in the world. I think the film will educate the audience who are not politically aware about what is happening around.”

The film puts the spotlight on / unveils a world that operates behind closed doors, away from roaring headlines, the silent world of diplomacy. The film rightfully explains how sometimes the biggest diplomatic battles are fought not with weapons, but with words, strategy, and silence. The film portrays J.P. Singh’s efforts to navigate complex diplomatic challenges, geopolitical tensions, and legal battles to ensure Uzma’s safe return to India, emphasizing strategy and human resolve over typical action.
