Lush, Lavish And Luxurious- Akash Ambani And Shloka Mehta Wedding
Some marriages are not only made in heaven but also performed heavenly. Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash and diamond merchant Russell Mehta’s daughter Shloka Mehta’s lavish wedding was one such affair of grandeur to remember. The marriage of childhood sweethearts that proposed to each other last year took the internet by storm since the pre-wedding festivities kicked off. From Destination-parties, designer wears, impressive guest list and mesmerizing décor, the entire affair was jaw-droppingly extravagant.
The luxurious pre-wedding bash kick-started at St.Moritz in Switzerland in a 3-day event in February. Akash and Shloka arrived at the venue in a horse-ridden carriage for the carnival based theme called ‘ Winter Wonderland’. It was a star-studded affair with the likes of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar as guests. Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa performed at the event.
The sangeet ceremony saw the big wigs from the entertainment industry, sports and business world grace the venue with their presence. A lot of celebrities took to Instagram to share their pictures using the hashtag #AkashstoletheShlo. Over 850 guests present at the event, grooved to the performances by Coldplay and The Chainsmokers. A video that went viral shows the bride-groom to be, grooving to ‘Paris’ by The Chainsmokers. The Switzerland festivities were followed by a Harry Potter themed party in Mumbai. According to the sources, the dinner table at the venue was a replica of one used in Hogwarts.
Clearly, one of the biggest wedding this year that took place on March 9 witnessed the whos’ who of Business, Bollywood and Sports attend the event. While the bride looked stunningly beautiful in a red, hand-embroidered Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla creation and brightened it further up with diamond jewellery for her D-Day, the groom looked handsome in an ivory-gold sherwani. The Wedding ceremony saw elaborate fireworks and a musical fountain to add up to the beauty. Nita Ambani dancing to a devotional song Achyutam Kesavam was the key highlight of the event.
Mukesh Ambani wore a twinning sherwani that goes with the floral print of wife Nita’s traditional attire. To mark the occasion, Nita Ambani wore a special blouse embroidered with ’shubharambh’ at the back and the names ‘Akash’ and ‘ Shloka’ on the sides. Those present at the wedding were Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, , Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , Sachin Tendulkar, P V Sindhu, Irfan Pathan, Farah Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Ratan Tata, Aamir Khan with his wife Kiran Rao, Hardik Pandya and Yuvraj Singh.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai, former UN Secretary Ban-ki Moon and British Prime Minister Tony Blair along with his wife Cherie were also amongst those present. The celebrities were at their fashionable best for the festivities. The Reception Ceremony or Mangal Parv Ceremony that held on Sunday saw Shloka adorning a beige lehenga and the Akash in a black sherwani. The newly-wed couple danced to the number ‘She will be loved’ by Grammy winner Maroon 5’s singer Adam Levine. Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor along with wife Mira, Siddharth Malhotra, Rekha, Shilpa Shetty, Goldie Bahl and Sonali Bendre Bahl and others were present to extend their wishes to the newly-wed couple. With all eyes on the official reception scheduled for today, it will surely be an affair to remember for long for its extravagance and elegance.
