With the world becoming more advanced in every sector, scientists have developed a soft, stretchable device that can convert any piece of clothing into a fitness tracker. Isn’t it a great news for the fitness freaks? The device is made up of Silicon and fabric that moves and flexes with the human body and measures each movement accurately.
When the device is stretched, the sensor’s conductive area increases by increasing its length whereas the width decreases keeping the capacitance constant. As a result, the device is able to detect change in capacitance within 30 milliseconds and physical change in less than half a millimeter.
According to the professor of Havard University Mr. Conor Walsh, “We are very much excited about this sensor and also said that this textile technology will further help them to make robotic apparel”.
